Coordinated control of DSTATCOM with switchable capacitor bank in a secondary radial distribution system for power factor improvement

Abstract This paper exhibits the coordinated control of 30 kVAr Distribution STATic synchronous COMpensator (DSTATCOM) with 125 Switchable Capacitor Banks for compensation reactive power in a 750 kVA secondary radial distribution system. With system, factor can be improved near to unity. The selected system mainly feeding vital loads an Educational Institution. In this paper, study is analyzed terms electrical institute, consumption pattern and tariff related issues. Some conclusions improve performance reduction were drawn. switchable capacitor bank DSTATCOM depends on calculation reference source currents that generates gating pulses voltage converter-based DSTATCOM. For purpose, strategy adopted Real Reactive (PQ) control, Synchronous Reference Frame theory, Back Propagation Control algorithm Adaptive Linear (ADALINE) implemented using MATLAB/SIMULINK software. Generation PWM triggers IGBT VSI-based achieved DSP TMS 320 F 2812, 32-bit processor programmed CCS V3.3 C2000 embedded code generation tool MATLAB/Simulink, same being executed composer studio V 6.0.1. experimentally hardware prototype evaluate effect bank.
